UC San Diego Summer Intern Housing Program
UC San Diego Summer 2024 welcomes student interns and visiting scholars with apartments available for those looking for housing accommodations during the summer.
The UCSD campus is within close proximity to three famous San Diego beaches, including La Jolla Shores, Blacks and North Torrey Pines - all with plenty of sunshine to experience!
Housing
Accommodations
Summer interns will receive a private, single occupancy bedroom in a shared apartment (max of 4 people per apartment). Apartments include full-size kitchens with appliances, including a stove, refrigerator, and microwave. Bedroom includes wardrobe, dresser, desk and desk chair. Complimentary Wi-Fi, on-site laundry facilities (laundry cards are required for use and can be purchased at the conference desk), and weekly housekeeping of common areas. Rate: $62.00/night
The Neighborhood
Summer intern housing will be in one of the university's neighborhood dorms. Buildings are organized around a series of large outdoor spaces, terraces, and promenades, allowing guests to enjoy San Diego’s temperate climate and create a sense of community. Casual outdoor seating and open grass areas are all conveniently located nearby, as well as the RIMAC recreation facility where you can enjoy a workout with a purchased Rec Pass. Torrey Pines State Beach/Natural Reserve and Torrey Pines Glider Port and Golf Course are just a short walk away.
Dining
On Campus
Summer interns can dine in several on campus eateries. The Price Center is centrally located, offering a variety of options such as Jamba Juice, Lemongrass Farm, Subway, Panda Express, Starbucks and more.
Off Campus
San Diego has no shortage of amazing food. Less than 10 minutes away you will find the Westfield UTC mall which is home to over 60 casual and specialty dining locations. Grocery stores such as Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Ralphs are a short bus or trolley ride away if you prefer to prepare your own meals. Or take the trolley even further south to explore downtown! Nearby neighborhoods of Del Mar, Mira Mesa, and Pacific Beach also have many restaurants highlighting San Diego's diverse cuisine.
Transportation and Parking
UC San Diego is within 5 miles of La Jolla Shores, La Jolla Village, and Westfield UTC mall, providing ample opportunities for water activities, dining, entertainment, and shopping. Public transportation from campus includes UC San Diego shuttles, MTS buses and the newly operational Trolley Blue line which spans from the Mexico border through downtown San Diego and all the way north to several stops in the UC San Diego campus and UTC area.

With the various forms of public transportation, a car is not necessary to explore San Diego. If you are bringing a car to campus, permits can be purchased online or through the Park Mobile app for daily, weekly or monthly options.

Eligibility, Terms, and Conditions
- All guests must be 18 years or older.
- Proof of eligibility such a letter of acceptance from your internship is required to complete the application process.
- All stays must be booked for a minimum of two weeks.
- Reservations must be made at least 7 days in advance to the stay.
- Standard check-in time is 4pm and check-out is at 11am.
